It is possible to refresh a tired appearance and soften unwanted lines and wrinkles with BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®.
Each treatment is customised by a physician or RN to your specific concerns. These treatments target the individual muscles that contribute to wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead lines, and bunny lines on the nose. They can also help relax the muscles that turn down the corners of the mouth, soften a squared jawline, and improve chin dimpling.
Botox® or Dysport® may be injected into specific muscles to soften unwanted lines and wrinkles and refresh a tired appearance.
Dysport® and Botox® are both licensed in Canada for cosmetic treatments.
Botox® and Dysport® are trade names for botulinum toxin type A purified protein complex, produced by Allergan and Galderma, and are FDA- and Health Canada-approved.
Botulinum toxin therapy for wrinkles is an injection treatment designed to reduce facial expression lines by relaxing the underlying muscles. It works by blocking the signal between nerves and muscles, preventing the treated muscles from contracting.
In the face and neck, botulinum toxin therapy works best for dynamic lines and wrinkles and can help prevent them from becoming more permanent. It is less effective for fine textural changes on the skin surface and for lines already present at rest. It can soften these lines and may be used in conjunction with other treatments.
At Willow Medical Aesthetics, your treatment will be performed by physicians or registered nurses.
You may see other providers offering this treatment. While Botox injections are relatively simple, they still require the expertise of a trained and experienced medical professional. If injections are placed too deep, too low, or in the wrong area, unwanted side effects can occur. We recommend checking the credentials of anyone offering Botox or Dysport injections.
Our Medical Director, Dr Sullivan, is a medical doctor. She specialises in Aesthetic Medicine and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Aesthetic Medicine and GP Dermatology. In addition to more than 20 years of experience, she has attended numerous Botox training courses in both Canada and the UK to refine her technique. All of our injectors are certified in medical injectables and have been trained by Dr Sullivan.

Upon arrival at our clinic, one of our client services representatives will greet you. If you are new to our clinic, you will be asked to complete intake and consent forms, so please plan to arrive 10 minutes before your appointment.
During your Botox/Dysport appointment, you will have a thorough consultation to determine the best treatment plan and review your areas of concern and goals. The injections are usually well tolerated, with minimal discomfort.
After the injections, the effect gradually begins over several days, and the full effect may not be seen until 14 days post-injection. Botulinum toxin therapy is temporary, which means it must be repeated regularly to remain effective. An average response is 3–5 months, depending on the area and condition treated.
The process is usually quick and simple. Depending on your needs, you may receive a few injections in the treatment areas before returning to your day. These are often described as feeling like a brief, sharp prick.
Many patients report minimal discomfort. There may be some mild redness, swelling, or bruising at first, which usually resolves quickly.
Typically, results begin to appear within a few days and continue to develop for about two weeks. The effect gradually wears off over three to four months.
As with any injectable treatment, there can be unintended effects if the product affects a nearby muscle. If you have any concerns after treatment, speak with your injector.
The price is $10 per unit of Botox and Dysport. Everyone’s needs and treatment plan will differ, depending on the areas treated.
Our approach is to aim for a natural look, with dosing based on your anatomy, goals, and treatment area.
People who are physically healthy, have no history of neuromuscular diseases such as multiple sclerosis or myasthenia gravis, are not pregnant or nursing, and are at least 18 years old are generally considered better candidates for Botox and Dysport treatments.
Most patients do not have issues beyond minor redness, bruising, or swelling. Occasionally, Botox or Dysport can spread beyond the intended area and affect nearby muscles. This can cause effects such as a drooping eyelid or an unbalanced smile. If this occurs, the effect usually wears off over time.
How long Botox or Dysport lasts varies from person to person. It also depends on the areas treated and the number of units injected. On average, Botox/Dysport treatments typically last 3–4 months.
We recommend scheduling your treatment no sooner than every 10 weeks and pre-booking your next appointment before you leave the clinic. On average, many patients schedule their Botox/Dysport cosmetic treatments every 3–4 months.
In British Columbia, Botox is a prescription medication and must be prescribed by a licensed medical professional, such as a medical doctor (MD) or nurse practitioner (NP). Qualified medical injectors may perform the injections under proper medical supervision.
Even if you do not yet have pronounced wrinkles, some patients choose Botox or Dysport as an early treatment. Treating expression lines earlier may help limit how strongly they form over time.
With continued and consistent Botox/Dysport treatments, some patients find that results last longer. Repeated use may contribute to gradual relaxation of the treated muscles over time.
Dysport and Botox contain the same active ingredient: botulinum toxin type A.
In Canada, Botox Cosmetic® is distributed by Allergan and Dysport® by Galderma. Dr Sullivan and her team use both products.
