As we age, sun exposure, redness, uneven skin tone, and changes in skin texture can become more noticeable. BBL HEROic is an advanced light-based treatment that may help address multiple skin concerns in a single session, with little to no downtime for most patients.
BBL® HEROic™ uses BroadBand Light (BBL) technology, an advanced form of intense pulsed light (IPL), rather than a traditional laser. While lasers emit a single focused wavelength, BroadBand Light delivers multiple wavelengths that can be precisely filtered and adjusted. This allows your provider to address a range of concerns during one treatment.
BBL HEROic uses precisely controlled light energy to target specific skin concerns while minimising the effect on surrounding tissue. It delivers a broad range of wavelengths, allowing your provider to adjust treatment settings based on your individual skin type and concerns.
How It Works
When BroadBand Light enters the skin, specific structures called chromophores absorb the light energy and convert it into controlled heat. These chromophores include:

Most BBL HEROic sessions take approximately 15–30 minutes, depending on the area being treated.
The treatment area is cleansed before treatment begins, and you will wear protective eyewear throughout the session.
Your provider applies the BBL handpiece to the skin. With each pulse, you may feel a quick warm sensation, often described as similar to the snap of a rubber band. Integrated cooling technology helps keep the skin comfortable throughout treatment.
Immediately after treatment, you may experience mild warmth and redness similar to a mild sunburn.
Over the following several days, treated pigmentation may temporarily darken before gradually flaking away through the skin’s natural exfoliation process.
Skin tone and clarity may begin to improve over the following weeks. Improvements in overall skin quality may continue to develop gradually over time.

The number of treatments needed depends on the type and severity of your skin concern.
Isolated concerns, such as a small area of sun spots, may respond well to fewer treatments. Multiple concerns or more extensive sun damage may require a series of approximately 2–4 treatments spaced 3–4 weeks apart.
Your provider will recommend a treatment schedule based on your skin and goals.

Consistent sun protection and an appropriate skincare routine can help maintain results. Periodic maintenance treatments may also be recommended based on your individual needs.
BBL HEROic treatments should be performed by a trained provider with specific experience using BBL technology who can assess your skin type, customise treatment settings, and explain realistic treatment expectations.
